In general, Hypertension or High BP is one of the most dangerous diseases is this. This is also known as Silent Killer. Most of the people do not even know about it, till it becomes very critical. High BP or Hypertension

To begin with, what is Hypertension or High BP? therefore before we move further let’s understand what is hypertension and why it is important for us.

In the first place, our body mechanism is of tissue and organs. Generally, to function properly oxygenated blood is required and this work is done by our circulatory system. For the most part, Heart is a part of this system. Generally, When the heart pumps blood it creates pressure so that the blood passes in every cell and each part of our body through the blood vessels, arteries, veins. Likewise, this pressure is known as blood pressure.

Increases pressure is known as Hypertension and when there is very low pressure it is known as low blood pressure. Chart below describes about normal or abnormal readings.

  • 120/80 Normal
  • 140/90 High
  • 90/60 Low

In medical term, reading is meant as 120/80 Blood Pressure reading it to 120 over 80 Millimeters of Mercury or it is said as 120/80 mm Hg.

Systolic Blood Pressure:  The upper number Systolic Blood Pressure Indicates the pressure applied on the artery walls when the heart is beating.

Diastolic Blood Pressure: The second or lower number refers to the diastolic blood pressure, which means how much pressure is applied to the blood artery walls when the heart rests between two beats.

As an example, 120/80 mm Hg means that your Systolic BP is 120.

As well as diastolic BP is 80.

Usually, the upper number indicates systolic BP. This matters more because it gives an accurate result to know the risk of heart attack or stroke.

Cause of High BP or Hypertension

In 90% of cases, it is uncleared what is the main cause of High BP, but there are many risk factors which are the cause of hypertension.

  • Older age: As we age the risk of High BP increases. But nowadays youths are also found the victim of High BP.
  • Hereditary: Hypertension is also a hereditary disease.
  • Temperate: In many cases, it has been found that, when the temperature is high, BP is low whereas when the temperature is low BP is high. Generally, after 65 it is common of High BP.
  • Ethnic background: In the case of hypertension, ethnic background is also important. It has been found that people of African and South Asian ancestry have a higher risk of having high BP. South Asians, including Indians, are also at greater risk of the disease.

Obesity-related to High BP or Hypertension

  • Obesity: Obesity itself creates lots of diseases itself. Obese people are more prone to have Hypertension Opposite to normal-weight people.
  • Gender (Male/Female): Male are more prone to have hypertension. But after 60 both male or female are prone to have hypertension.
  • Physical inactivity: If you are not physical activity than you are more prone to have high BP. People who do not work or neither do exercise nor work sitting at one place are more prone to have high BP.
  • Smoking: Smoking is injurious for health also the cause of lung cancer. Smoking shrinks the blood vessels and blood pressure increases due to the heart has to pump more. The amount of oxygenated blood which is required fails and the blood pressure increases.
  • Alcohol: It has been noticed that an alcoholic person’s BP is higher by 7mmHg beside to non-alcoholic people.
  • Salt intake: We should reduce salt intake, as a result of Sodium intake increases the chances of Hypertension.
  • High Fat Diet: As a result of Many doctors prove that a high-fat diet may increase the risk of hypertension. Thereby Saturated and trans fat are not good for the heart.
  • Stress: Such as stressed person is more prone to have Hypertension. So than stress is not good for your health.
  • Diabetes: As a result, Diabetic people is more at the risk of being Hypertensive. In short, if you control your sugar intake you may be safer.
  • Psoriasis: In this case, Psoriasis is a kind of skin disease in which red itchy patches.
  • Pregnancy: Most of the woman suffers from high BP Especially which becomes normal after delivery.

Symptoms of High BP or Hypertension

  • Severe headache.
  • Fatigue or confusion.
  • Very Nervous or anxious.
  • Vision Problems.
  • Chest pain.
  • Shortness of Breath.
  • Irregular heartbeat.
  • Nose bleeding.
  • Blood in the urine.
  • Above all, if You are above 40 keep eye on your BP mostly if you have a family history of Hypertension.

Treatments of High BP or Hypertension

Hypertension also affects, different part of our body and the root cause is it damages our heart and arteries, affecting blood flow not to work properly.
